Launches “Ask Your Congresswoman” for Apopkans

Back in October Val Demings went on the “Lift every voice listening tour.” As we reported at the time, her stop in Apopka felt more like an incumbent stopping by her hometown to talk to a few friends. Then-candidate Val Demings facilitated discussions on issues almost as much as she answered questions from the audience. She was warm and authentic and seemed comfortable with the diverse crowd.

Fast-forward four months.  She is now Representative Demings of the Florida 10th Congressional District following a resounding victory in November. She may have a new title and reside in Washington, DC, but her passion for continuing the dialogue has not wavered.

Demings is launching an initiative to stay informed on the issues that matter to the residents of Apopka and to keep them up to date on the work she is doing in Washington. She reached out to The Apopka Voice and asked us to help facilitate an online format we are calling, “Ask your Congresswoman.”

“From small business development to gun violence prevention to investing in job-training programs, it’s important for me to hear what is on the minds of the people in my district,” said Representative Val Demings. “My hope is that my constituents feel like they can get answers from me directly, and this is a great way to do that.”

So, do you have questions about national issues like healthcare, the economy, the environment, or defense? Or local questions about South Apopka, jobs, crime, or education?

Just post your question in the “Leave a Reply” section at the end of this article. We will forward the questions onto Representative Val Demings who will provide responses that will be published on The Apopka Voice.
