New Orlando Vaccination Site

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Representative Val Demings (FL-10) today applauded the Biden Administration for a new announced COVID community vaccination site in the 10th District. The site will open the week of March 1st as a partnership between FEMA and the Valencia College West Campus. It will have the capacity to vaccinate up to 3,000 individuals per day.
Said Rep. Demings, “The Biden Administration, with our support in Congress, is surging vaccine resources to the American people. I am pleased to report that one of Florida’s new Community Vaccination Sites will be here in Orlando. This new partnership between FEMA and Valencia College West Campus will save lives.
“This new vaccination site is proof that the new administration is making fast, fair, and efficient vaccine distribution the top priority that it should be. I strongly support the administration’s effort to directly coordinate vaccine distribution, a change of strategy from the last administration’s ‘hands-off’ approach. There is light at the end of the tunnel, but we all have a lot of work still to do. I strongly urge every Floridian to get vaccinated as soon as you are eligible, and to keep wearing masks and taking other actions to keep each other safe.”
Background
As Chair of the House Homeland Security Subcommittee on Emergency Preparedness, Response, and Recovery, Rep. Demings has direct oversight over the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). She has made COVID relief a top priority and has supported trillions in emergency relief and vaccine funding in the CARES Act, CARES II, HEROES Act, HEROES II, the Omnibus COVID Relief Deal at the end of 2020, and the new COVID relief package currently under development.
