Rep. Demings Honors Fallen Law Enforcement Officers
ORLANDO, FL – Today, former Orlando Police Chief Rep. Val Demings (FL-10) attended the Peace Officers’ Memorial Service in honor of the 228 law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty in the last year. This includes fourteen from Florida.
Said Rep. Demings, “America’s law enforcement officers do a tough job and I thank God for the men and women who are willing to do it. Today we gathered to remember and honor the men and women who were killed in the line of duty. Law enforcement officers continually go above and beyond the call of duty, but we must remember they are still human.
“It is our duty to honor, support, and pay tribute to the men and women who put their lives on the line daily so that we and our families may live in peace.
“As a former Chief of Police, I extend my deepest appreciation to the law enforcement officers who serve each of us with integrity, courage, and unwavering dedication. My heart and prayers are with the families, friends, and colleagues who mourn the deaths of these brave men and women. They are gone but they will not be forgotten.”
