Rep. Demings: “The Law Means Nothing to this President”
ORLANDO, FL – Rep. Demings released the following statement on Attorney General Bill Barr’s attempt to expel Geoffrey S. Berman, United States attorney for the Southern District of New York, who is leading investigations into the president and his allies.
Said Rep. Demings, “Mr. Berman was appointed by U.S. District Court Judges. The Attorney General does not have the authority to expel him. It is clear that the law still means nothing to this president or his new fixer, William Barr.
“We impeached this president because he corrupted the rule of law and put personal gain before national good. We warned that he would do it again. The president’s enablers in the Senate have chosen to be complicit.
“Last night, President Trump’s attorney general was less than truthful to the press and public to force out a prosecutor investigating criminal activity by the president and his allies. Congress will investigate.
“What was Mr. Berman investigating that the president and his fixer are so determined to stop? We are going to find out.”
